Natural resources: oil, natural gas, gypsum. Oil and gas are the main source of income in the country. The oil reserves in Libya, 41.5 billion barrels, making it the forefront of African countries in this area

Oil accounts for approximately 94% of the proceeds of Libya's foreign exchange and 60% of government revenue and 30% of the gross domestic product

Libya produces 2 million barrels of oil per day and plans to increase production to three million barrels a day as of 2010
