Complain about the economy of the island of poverty in natural resources, including the acute shortage of water resources exacerbated by the long-term drought. Economy depends heavily on services such as trade, transport, tourism, contributes 66% of national income. Although 70% of the population living in rural areas, the share of agriculture in 2004 from 12% of national income and the most important crops "sugar cane, maize, coffee and bananas" as to those fishing 1.5%. About 82% of food must be imported. The possibility of fishing, sea and cancer often just did not fully exploit.
